From The Rising Nepal: Promoting Ethics in Civil Service
There’s a very thoughtful editorial today on The Rising Nepal, Promoting Ethics in Civil Service. It’s far more than just a cheer leading piece for ethics. It presents an analysis that has both depth and breadth in its considerations of the issues in different types of organizations—ranging from social and academic associations to professional bureaucracy—and the matters that affect implementation, promotion, and enforcement. The editorial also recognizes and addresses influences and effects of globalization related to transparency and accountability in bureaucracy.
It’s a terrific piece, well researched and well written, worthy of frequent reference. I’d love to see each of its paragraphs developed into a book chapter. Maybe someday. In the meantime it gives me hope that we may be entering something that could be called a global Age of Transparency.
Peace.
