FCC target of House panel’s investigation – Los Angeles Times

FCC target of House panel’s investigation – Los Angeles Times
“The lack of transparency in FCC matters has left the public with little faith that the agency is acting in their best interest,” Scott said.

That quote caps the story in today’s LA Times about the below-board dealings of the FCC’s chairman, Kevin J. Martin.  The attention this matter is getting is the result, in significant measure, of public outcry and pressure on Congress to put the skids on Martin.

Making noise works.

For the most part,  anytime the public becomes aware of a lack of transparency in government dealings that results in damage to people–or, as in the case with the FCC, sets the stage for damage–there will follow public outcry and pressure on the powers that be for change.  One of the biggest hurdles blocking change in state and local bureaucracies is the relatively small number of people affected to a degree or in a way that draws public attention to the problem.

That’s something we can change.   There’s the 90% of the iceberg to  be revealed.  Make noise over every story of bureaucratic injustice, no matter how large or small.  Collect the stories, identify the patterns.  The solutions will rise to the surface.

Peace.
