A Lesser Sidestepping of Law Is Still A Sidestepping
Today’s Boston Globe carries a story on Bush having toned things down a bit in his first “signing statement” since Democrats became the majority in Congress.

“They have clearly edited themselves,” said Christopher Kelley, a political science professor at Miami University of Ohio who first analyzed the new statement on his blog Thursday. “They’ve taken out all the rhetoric about executive power.”
Let’s not get too grateful for small favors, however. He’s still sidestepping the law, and clearly still believes he’s above the law. Oh, for a political cartoonist to draw Bush as the “Uber-Bureaucrat!”
