Here’s a hoot: it appears some one or more State Department career-types—meaning non-Bushies—have been having a bit of fun in the State Department hallways. This is from the blog Nukes & Spooks:

Outside the State Department ‘s press briefing room on the department’s 2nd floor hang large official photos of Bush, Rice and Vice President Dick Cheney. The pictures were, er … modified by persons unknown. (We did not personally witness this, we must admit — or we’d have a photo to post). We’re talking fake mustaches and the like. The defacements were promptly cleaned up. They reappeared.

Orders have been delivered from on high to stop such foolishness, but I wonder if it will. The public service oriented career bureaucrats have had to put up with a lot, and drawing mustaches on the pics are among the more innocuous ways they can blow off as the Bush administration winds down.

Maybe the next round can sport Groucho Marx style stogies to go along with the ‘staches.
